Hiya!
I’m in your inbox today to share the gorgeous cover of my third romcom, NEVER OVER, which releases on October 28th, 2025. As usual, it was designed by Olga Grlic and illustrated by Petra Braun. Feast your cute little eyes!
And now, for the description!
Twenty-five-year-old Paige Lancaster is one contract away from earning a living doing her favorite thing in the world: writing songs. But when a music industry professional suggests she might be holding back with her lyrics to lessen the heartbreak of an old flame, Paige doubts if her music is ready to be heard.
In a rare, impulsive move, Paige contacts Liam Bishop after four years of no-contact to ask him for a small favor: date her, and then re-break her heart, all so she can remember what those big, songworthy emotions felt like. And since Liam is the one who first set Paige on this career path, he hesitantly agrees.
Across two months of Liam’s summer work travel, the exes are forced to share hotel beds, rehash the past, and date in the present, all while navigating the building attraction between them they both swore was the one line of their agreement they wouldn’t cross.
But when it becomes near impossible not to act on their rippling chemistry, and as ever intensifying feelings blur reality with what’s driven by the music, Paige and Liam will both have to decide which is more important: art for the sake of it, or love over everything.
A journal entry about the book:
Never Over is inspired by music, first and foremost, but more specifically, the process of making art. And even though this is still a lighthearted, fun-loving romcom, it’s undoubtedly a departure for me. It has neither a corporate setting nor a single timeline narrative, which means I’ve stretched myself creatively with this book in ways that are both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. But I’m so hopeful that my readers (existing and future-state!) are ready to grow with me when it comes to the scope of my work.
I also want to be transparent that this is (in my opinion) the most angsty of my books. Part of that naturally comes with the dual timeline, but it’s also because there are some themes explored which are heavier than I’ve tackled before. Paige is going to reckon with pretty intense feelings of abandonment while Liam will grieve the fairly recent loss of his father. If you have any specific questions about the content considerations for this book, please don’t hesitate reach out to me directly!
I’d love to share what artists and music I had in my head while I was writing, but I think I’ll withhold those details for now. I’m really interested to see the full range of inspiration that readers connect the story with on their own. :)
I’m following the lead of one of my favorite authors and moving away from marketing my books with tropes. I’ve ultimately decided that, while tropes are an amazing tool for selling books and are popular for a reason, I want the tropes associated with my books to be championed by readers rather than myself or my publisher.
I probably won’t talk about this on Instagram because the last thing I want to do is come across as disparaging tropes as a concept, but I wanted to mention it here, mainly so I can put cautionary scare quotes around this book being a “celebrity/normie” romance. Paige is a songwriter, not a mainstream performing artist, and that will hold true to the end. Consider her the Amy Allen behind Sabrina Carpenter. And if you don’t know who Amy Allen is — well, that’s sort of the point.
Other notes:
If you’re an advanced reviewer, expect to see Never Over available in the late spring or early summer.
I won’t finalize a preorder incentive until the fall, but there will definitely be one, so stay tuned, and feel free to preorder a copy of the book now! Just save that receipt.
I’ll be sharing this cover on Instagram tomorrow! Until then, keep it our secret, please.
I’ve been itching for a new Clare Gilmore romcom to gush over! Cannot freakin wait!
Ahh so excited for this one!!
